Fixing battery damage on main board
The device I bought from eBay had its battery removed but unfortunately too late. The battery leaked through the wires, through the connector to the pcb underneath.
I tried to unsolder and replace the connector but the old connector came out together with the hole plating.
The two images show CN3 after the failed attempt to remove the old connector.

The connector has three pins, two of them are used. I replaced it with a JST-XH 3-pin, leaving the middle pin unused.
The pin closest to C4 is going to R1 (8.2 ohm 2W) then to D13 and then to the outer contact of the barrel connector. The pin closest to C29 is ground.
The problem I faced was that I could not connect the ground pin from below. Luckily the bottom pads survived so I could mechanically secure the connection.
What I did, was to pass two thin copper strands from inside the ground pad, then put the connector and solder it from the bottom side. From the top side, I removed the solder mask (which was anyway peeling off) soldered the wire to the ground, just above the “3” of CN3, and replaced the solder mask with new one, UV hardened.
